1. It is dangerous to be different and make your own personal choices. It is safer to follow your peers. Research shows that those who always do the 'right' thing without consulting their own thoughts and feelings often end up dysfunctional later in life needing therapy to get in touch with who they really are, what they really feel and think in their deeper self.


2. It’s easy to live according to your own value system. People just accept and let you get on with it. Research shows that people often resist new ideas and original thoughts. They might criticise, tease and persecute you if they feel their safe value-system is being threatened. If you persist, however,  you will find friends of equal mind and most people will admire you and adjust in their own good time.


3. Mistakes should be avoided. Nobody likes a loser. Most people learn through their own experience what works for them. Mistakes are healthy misunderstandings, which help us to know what is good and what works for us and others and what doesn’t. People admire a person who has the courage to get up and try again after a mistake.


4. You can’t really resist pressure from school, parents and peers. It is best to just conform." For our own happiness and health it is all important to set your own goals and work at your own pace, doing what makes sense to you. It’s an illusion to think or believe that you need to please everyone or achieve everything others seem to expect of you.


5. You shouldn’t have big dreams. Most people end up in a job they don’t like. That’s just the way it is. Research shows the most happy and fulfilled people are people with big dreams, they may not turn out exactly as expected, but dreams can energise us to step by step work for what we want instead of just settling for what is handy.
